LOST Theories - Sayid

Aaron Johnson
In the 1970s, Sayid was shot while attempting to transport the skeleton of a nuclear warhead to the Swan site. That nuclear warhead exploded, which plummeted those on the island into a skewed timeline, while their alternate selves go on about their slightly shifted lives.

Led by Jacob's ghost, Hurley brought the group to the Temple, where Jacob claimed Sayid could be healed. Upon their arrival, after barely convincing the inhabitants of the Temple to keep them alive, the group is led into an inner sanctum of the Temple where a murky body of water lies.

The Temple dwellers proceed to drown Sayid in the water, holding his head under until he stops moving. They claim that their remedy did not work, yet Sayid wakes up two hours later unaware of what has happened. The natives appear just as surprised as Jack and Hurley that he has been resurrected.

Subsequently, Togan and his hippie friend bring him into another room of the Temple where they begin to torture him, placing a hot iron on his chest, not speaking to Sayid any of their reasons or intentions. And, after that, they let him go back to the pool.

It was then that Jack was approached by Togan, or "the Samurai" as he has been dubbed by many LOSTies, and told to give him a mysterious pill, which he would not reveal the contents of. After Jack refused and even attempted to take the pill himself, Togan finally conceded that it was poison.

Togan then went on to tell Jack that Sayid had a darkness growing inside of him that would overtake him, that he had been "claimed". Togan mentioned that Sayid was not the only one whom this mysterious darkness had overtaken, but that Jack's own sister, whom we know to be Claire, but Jack may or may not, had contracted the same darkness and had turned into a crazed lunatic.

During the latest episode, Sayid approaches Togan, demanding to know his reasons for attempting to kill him, and "the Samurai" attacks him. Togan immediately gains the upper hand and has Sayid at a point that he could easily kill him. Just as he is about to, his baseball falls off the table, and he tells Sayid to leave.

Just as he is getting ready, however, the camp is approached by the brain-washed Australian mother, Claire, who tells Togan to send someone to talk to the smoke monster, the man in black, Flocke, whatever, and Togan grabs Sayid, telling him to plunge a dagger into the monster's heart before he is able to speak.

Sayid goes out to the jungle and does exactly that, but the sharp dagger has no effect. Perplexed, Sayid has no other choice but to listen to him. Flocke promises him that if he helps him, delivers his death message, and cooperates, he would let him see his precious Nadia again.

After Sayid tells the Others that they must leave or they will die, he goes into the pool room where he himself had once been dead. Togan is there, baseball in hand, and tells a sad story about his son's death, saying that Jacob had promised if he came to the island, his son would live. "I'm guessing he made a similar promise to you?" Togan asked, and, after Sayid nods, he returns the favor, drowning the Samurai in the water and, in turn, slicing the hippie's throat.

Ben Linus, who arrived with Frank Lapidus and the rest of Jacob's faithful, finds Sayid, bloody dagger in hand, and urges him to come with him into the safe spot Ilana was able to find, to enable their safety. Sayid says that it is too late for him.

After the smoke monster laid waste to all that was living in the camp, Sayid emerges with Claire in an almost robotic-like walk, to join their leader.

Synopsis:
Though Sayid may have had both good and bad in him, this writer believes the good is either completely gone or such a small speck that it has all but gone out. Togan gave him the dagger, saying that he would be able to redeem the good in him if he only would kill Flocke. Although he did try, it didn't work. Once he killed the Samurai, Sayid established himself as a member of the man in black's crew, joining Claire, and possibly Sawyer in his recruitment project. For what? Only time will tell.

Who is to say which side is the 'bad guys' and which is the not? Thus, we all keep recording it on TiVo, right?!

This week's episode really hurt my feelings *lol* I really didn't want to see Sayid go over to the dark side, I'd rather he had been killed! And Claire being so messed up just breaks my heart!

For once I have absolutely no theory as to what could happen next, but nothing that Smocke (we call him Smocke, you know Smoke + Locke!)is involved in can be good!

    Nice work,as always!
