LOST Withdrawal? Six Ways to Deal

Audrey Brown
It's October, and LOST doesn't return to ABC with new episodes until February. Love it or hate it, at least when February rolls around we can watch a new episode every week for the entirety of the season. No more ridiculously annoying breaks. But for now, we have to deal with the absence of our favorite obsession. How are you spending that empty hour every week? Quilting, per chance? Probably not. Well, I came up with six helpful suggestions to help you through the long and lonely LOST-free months ahead.

1.) Well, obviously, rent or buy the previous seasons of LOST. The show is so complicated; you just may pick up something new or develop a new theory while you're re-watching previous episodes. Of course, chances are if you're going through LOST withdrawal, you've seen every episode of LOST at least twice anyway. But what's the harm in another go-round.

2.) Google LOST. The fan site community is ginormous, and you'll get your fix of LOST conspiracy theories. And don't forget the official website; there are plenty of little extras for fans of the show on the ABC website.

3.) Rent movies starring your favorite LOST actors. I'm a sucker for Dominic Monaghan, so I try to track down all the movies he's been in. And yes, I love Lord of the Rings. A good resource for this little activity is the website IMDB.com. You can type in an actor's name and it will list their entire filmography.

4.) This one may seem like a stretch, but when you're desperate you'll do anything. I would recommend watching any jungle adventure movie you can find. If you're missing the jungle romance of Kate and Jack/Sawyer, try renting Romancing the Stone. Or perhaps you're a fan of the loud non-descript dino-cloud, then try Jurassic Park or King Kong.

5.) Try some more J.J. Abrams. Rent Mission Impossible III, watch an Episode of Alias, and if you're really hurting...go ahead and give Felicity a shot. J.J. Abrams is almost entirely responsible for that suspenseful style that you just can't get enough of, and it is present in all of his other works too.

6.) Let me make an addition to suggestion number one. You may have rented or bought the previous seasons of LOST. But have you listened to the commentary? Aha, you probably usually just skip it! But you'd be surprised at what you can learn via the commentary. If you at all enjoy behind-the-scenes type info, then don't skip the commentary. I learned to love commentaries because of Futurama, and LOST has some really great ones too.

If all of those suggestions made you roll your eyes, then maybe you're not suffering from LOST withdrawal after all. So that's a plus! But hey, don't hate on the geeks. LOST will be back soon, and geek or not, I think we'll all be glad when February rolls around.

You think you have a long wait? I live in Shanghai and i have to wait until the season ends each year to buy the illegal DVDs of the just concluded season. I did it for the past two years. But this year, I will be back in the U.S. so I can watch it every week. What a relief.

I tried to watch this when I was dating a guy who couldn't miss an episode, but I never got into it. That's just me though. I'm not big on fiction of any type. Great tips and suggestions. You're very creative!
