Lou Dobbs and Illegal Immigrants -- Does He Practice What He Preaches?

Is He a Hypocrite?

Lou Dobbs hired illegal immigrants, alleged by The Nation, to care for his multimillion-dollar estates and the horses that his daughter, a professional and award winning horse rider, needs. The 65-year-old former CNN TV host's major part of his platform, at Lou Dobbs Tonight, was his stance against illegal immigrants.

The Nation claims it has been investigating Lou Dobbs for a year

Isabel Macdonald of The Nation, a paper that purports to "not be the organ of any party, sect, or body," in her article about Lou Dobbs and illegal immigrants called Lou Dobbs, American Hypocrite, says not one but five immigrants who worked on Lou's property without papers were interviewed, and Dobbs has relied for years on undocumented labor based on investigation by The Nation and the Investigative Fund at The Nation Institute.

If this is true, was Lou Dobbs aware of it, or is it a case where he doesn't handle the daily work matters of his multimillion-dollar estates and care of his horses and instead leaves it in the hands of someone else? In other words, is he simply ignorant of who is working on his property? As noted in The Nation, "...undocumented workers make up an estimated 28 percent of workers in landscaping." It's easy to see why they are there, but why would Lou Dobbs hire illegal workers and then rally against them?

Will this new report hurt Dobbs' credibility for Senate or president?

Lou Dobbs is scheduled to speak at a Tea Party convention and has indicated desires for a run for the Senate and for president in 2012. With this new report of Lou Dobbs and illegal immigrants, are those desires dashed?

Has The Nation succeeded in good, clean investigative reporting or has The Nation succeeded in a witch hunt? Even if the report is found to be questionable or even false, the damage may already be done. For a man who made illegal immigrants his platform, angered Latinos, and even said that those who hire illegal immigrants should be prosecuted, this new report has the potential to get rid of any political aspirations that Lou Dobbs may have.

But where does the fault really lie? Lou Dobb said, "The illegal employer is the central issue in this entire mess!" If this report is true, and if Lou Dobbs didn't know that illegals were on his property, he should have known.

No ZX, you get a freakin' clue. If you make illegal immigrants your platform, you make sure you don't hire illegal immigrants.

WTF is wrong with yopu people? Tell me one person who checks the immigration status of the employees a subcontractor hires? When I have someone come over to work on my central heat, plumbing, landscaping, etc I don't ask them if their employees are illegal. Hell, if I did, I would be branded a racist. Get a freakin' clue people!

This is unfortunate. You can you trust these days? He is so adamant about illegals, and then he employs them. Horrible.
