And that very well could have gotten him fired, or at least inspired him to quit.
According to Reuters, Lou Dobbs has hinted at a possible White House Run or Senate run. While he's such a great figure, I am not sure if he would make a good President. Of course, the Lou Dobbs For President campaign would drum up a lot of supporters and a lot of interest. However, I think the GOP has some better candidates that would do a better job as President.
No, I don't think Sarah Palin would make a good President, either. I think another GOP leader such as former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee would be a better and better-rounded candidate for the GOP.
Despite the fact that I don't think that Lou Dobbs is ready to become President, I think he would make an excellent Senator. He's had plenty of experience dealing with political debate, already has acquaintances in both the House and the Senate, and is educated enough to deal with the issues. He has also had enough correspondence with the general public, and knows what we want and how important our elected officials are in voicing our opinions.
Sarah Palin would be a better House Representative or Senator as well. She's not ready to lead. Of course, she is very young. After 10-15 years more in politics, she may be polished enough to become the President.
Despite the fact that Lou Dobbs and Sarah Palin aren't ready to become President - in my opinion - they are two figures that we should watch closely. Both individuals should be highly respected by both parties - Lou Dobbs for his honest journalism and Sarah Palin for her sudden rise to political fame.
If Lou Dobbs runs for president, I hope he does it under the GOP ticket and not as an independent. He will not gain enough votes to win (in my opinion) and he will take crucial votes away from the conservative candidates.
Lou Dobbs has shaped American journalism. His educational and professional background is perfect for a career in politics. Maybe after a few years in the Senate, he would be ready to run for President.
But not now.
