Lou Dobbs for President: Mr. Independent for a New World

Alfonso Coley
There is a new America, and it is not

The America of the past

When America was young -

And the ideals of this nation held true

And respectful views about the President.

Has America become a nation

Of independent values, or maybe

The nation is outgrowing

The old and tired values

That shaped the face

Of a once great honorable nation.

I say a once great nation

Where morals and respect

Was a part of the fiber of every classroom

And newsroom.

What is the face of Independent America?

Is it white or a little black

Or maybe something that is

Broken beyond repair.

Maybe some Americans are longing

For a voice that is a false cry,

A minstrel song of hyped up promises

We all have come to know

So very well.
