Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal Facing Fifth Recall Bid

What, Exactly, Do We Expect from Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal?

Donald Pennington
This makes for the fifth time Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal has had someone try to have him recalled. Only this time, it might work. The previous four attempts came close to success, the closest was when he stated he would not veto a legislative pay raise. Many believe the only reason the recall petition was pulled was because he saw the "logic" of vetoing the pay raise before it could go into effect.

This gubernatorial recall attempt is in response to the Louisiana governor's recent cuts for higher education and health care. In a time when families are scraping to get by and 46 states are admitting to budget shortages, a tough choice was made. It might seem to some that no choice is acceptable to everyone.

Who is circulating the petition calling for the recall of Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal?
Ronnie and Joyce Ceasar of Opelousas, Louisiana are the driving force behind the petition this time. According to theadvertiser.com, the Ceasars intend to exploit the power of the Internet in their quest for the necessary approximate 908,000 signatures. The Ceasars have 180 days to complete the task. With the power of Facebook, the task may not be impossible, either. The problem for the Mr. and Mrs. Ceasar is that Louisiana state law requires hand-written signatures, and the signer must list their home address.

What is Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal have to say about this recall effort?
Through his press secretary, Kyle Plotkin, Jindal claims to stand firm on his budget for the Great State of Louisiana. Yet, at the same time, his reponse sounds like the typical politician game of trying to tell everyone exactly what they want to hear. In response to the allegations of neglecting health care and higher education, Plotkin states: "We will present a balanced budget this spring that makes necessary reductions to live within our means while protecting critical services like higher education and health care."

My take on the attempt to recall Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal:
Governor Bobby Jindal was elected as governor during a time when people in this beautiful state were calling for smaller, less intrusive government. So, in his efforts to reduce the power of state government, he has had to decide where the state is no longer in authority over the people. But, as we Americans so often are, many are now confused. Louisiana elected Bobby Jindal to reduce the size, breadth, and scope of government. Now he's being punished - again - for doing exactly that. Either we have our cake, or we eat it. But we can't have both.

This is a very insightful look at the situation in Louisiana, but it is the same problem that is happening, not only nationwide, but worldwide. Just look at Greece and France, for example.

I do think he's a strange bird, don't know much about his policies. He must be doing something to tick the people off, however.

Great report Donald. Truly American's are in for a rude awakening and sooner rather than later. The piper will be paid...he always is. Hope Jindal is not punished for doing exactly as he promised during his campaign.

Thank you for this insightful article on Bobby Jindal. Although other politicians may not be facing the specter of a possible recall, I am certain there are many elected officials whose constituents are equally as unhappy with decisions made in this continuing tough economy.
