Louisville, KY 40204
United States of America
The showcase is a staple in the Louisville music scene, and it starts at 9:30pm. Although most people in Louisville start their evening search for entertainment later in the night, due to the late 4 am closing time, you can save the $5 cover charge if you arrive before 9 pm. If you're upset with Louisville's smoking ban and you need to light up, you can step out the door from the roof garden onto the venue's deck and outside bar, where it is still legal to smoke.
The showcase features four to five Louisville or regional rock bands and is sponsored by Kentucky Tattoos and Body Piercing and Uncle Sam's Jams who has been sponsoring local music for about 12 years. The roof garden is a great setting for the showcase, putting the bands up on a large stage that is professionally lighted.
The showcase presents bands an opportunity to be seen on one of the most popular stages in Louisville, receive promotion, and be mentioned in radio advertising on 93.1 the Fox, one of Louisville's rock and roll stations. Eddie Metal, the host and promoter, enjoys giving bands those opportunities. The showcase has featured bands that have gone onto become national touring bands, such as Flaw, Primer 55, and Ugly. The showcase has also given some bands the opportunity to play out in public for the first time.
Eddie has been hosting the showcase at Phoenix Hill Tavern for 8 years and is no stranger to the Louisville original music scene. He has a history of performing in Louisville bands like Inhuman, !3th Level, and Sideshow. He also writes for Louisville Music News, the local newspaper dedicated to covering the Louisville music scene. He writes concert, band and CD reviews along with new band alerts. Before beginning the showcase at Phoenix Hill Tavern, Eddie hosted shows at the Toy Tiger, which is no longer a part of Louisville.
You can check out some of Eddie's writing at www.louisvillemusicnews.net and check out the showcase the first Friday of next month. Bands interested in performing in the showcase or with news to submit can use Eddiemetal1@aol.com to contact Eddie.
