Love and Contradiction

A.M. Morgan
I am an infant in love

So I often lose it trying to control it

For I seek to pacify my own heart

So no one will abuse it

Thought I would always win

Until I played an unlikely game

Broken into pieces I hold my head in shame

Thinking about the past when it was easy to forget someone's name

I know that it's over but I can't even assign any blame

I saw the danger but I fought with my mind to change the outcome

This time I learned a lesson that even in my character I will never be the same

I was in an infant in love

Until I met my match

I selfishly thought I was the perfect catch

But time has expired when it's all said and done

And now I am all grown up without love in the aftermath
