Love on Death Row

Crystal Wilson and Randy Halprin Wed

Dee
Love has no boundaries, and can be found just about anywhere on earth. It has found it's way to Texas's Polunsky death row unit in Livingston Texas. Texas death row inmate Randy Halprin, 32 has been wed to his fiance Crystal Wilson, 36 in a proxy style marriage.

On September 17, 2009 the couple tied the knot and was married by Judge Gorczynski, in Harris County. Standing in for the groom was David Babb. Mrs. Halprin was able to visit her husband in a non contact visit at the prison unit shortly after.

Halprin has been handed the death sentence and was sentenced under a law Texas calls "The Law of Parties." What the law basicaly states is that even if you are innocent of murder, but someone was killed during a crime where you was present, you can be charged with murder and executed in Texas for it. Halprin's Co defendants have signed affidavits stating he was not the shooter. Those can be read on Halprin's website, which is maintained by his wife.

Crystal has been an advocate opposing The Law of Parties, in which close to 80 Texas inmates are sentenced under, and has a petition for people to sign on the website. She has rallied, marched and demonstrated for this cause.

Congratulations to the newlyweds. May their love endure the struggle they are up against.

Once in a while something magical happens, and this is one of those times. Crystal spoke about her husband "I knew I would marry Randy from day one. I knew when I found him that he was rare and one of a kind. He is my very best friend, my everything and my greatest love."

More photo's and information can be found on the website.

Just to clarify here! Yes Randy was committed under the "law of parties," but I wish the writer would give a bit more detail in his articles.

Randy ESCAPED FROM PRISON with 6 other men, and in the process, a police officer was killed by one of the men. It's not like he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

My thought is that, if she wants to marry a death row inmate, that's great, but those marriages rarely ever work out (usually the men are just in it for their own gain).

There is nothing beautiful about it. Marrying somebody who you met in prison is a sickness many women suffer from. Those women still have someone out of prison who they see. Sick.

How sad, the worst case of you are known by your companions as I've ever seen :)

I would just be careful, wanting to know why they were in prison, that monster Garrido was in prison where he met his wife. Yuk. Great article.
