My experience as a first-time customer at Regis Salon in Southlands Mall was good enough to write about. I booked my appointment with Deborah at the Salon. When I arrived, I found the salon attractive, with lots of windows and bamboo floors. Shelves full of haircare products were nicely arranged. The only thing I didn't like was loud rock music blaring in the background, but I was able to ignore it after awhile. I would suggest switching to more zen-like music for more of a Spa environment. The salon was not busy, and there was only one other stylist and customer there on a weekday morning.

Regis provides a range of haircare services. From their website: " The latest cuts, color, perms, texturizing and finishing services tailored to fit your needs".

Deborah welcomed me immediately. Since she didn't know me or what kind of style I wanted, she took the time to show me pictures from hairstyle books. We talked at length about the final length. Since my hair was fairly long, and I was looking at a much shorter style, she made sure she knew how short she could cut it before proceeding.

I had washed and colored my hair earlier, so she wet my hair down in the shampoo sink and conditioned it. Then, she began an elaborate cutting process. First, she cut the overall length and shape. Then, she took the time to blow-dry, flat-iron and smooth my wavy hair until very sleek. I thought she was done, but she used more fancy techniques including razor-cutting and texturizing on my dry hair to get the shape just right!

I left the salon literally looking 10 years younger! I was beaming from ear to ear. Deborah was pleasant and friendly, but not overly so. She cultivated a good balance of conversation and silence, but didn't talk my ear off. She worked very diligently to make sure my new hairstyle was perfect in every way. When I washed it the next day, I wondered if I could style my hair as perfectly as she had created it. Luckily, after my blow-dry and flat-iron treatment, I achieved nearly the same look, but a little less perfect.

I paid $36 plus tip for my new hairstyle, and I'm pleased to say "It was worth it!"

I searched the web for reviews of Regis Salon at Southlands and found only two. I wondered if I was choosing the right salon, based solely on a handful of opinions. Based on my recent experience, I would definitely book another haircut at Regis with Deborah!
