Love Hurting on Valentines' Day

Lizzie Elzingre
Sometimes all he does is heave a sigh

When he walks and the clouds are grey and high

Sometimes all his dreams are thoughts of youth

When the woes around make life too much

His lone desire is her to nestle near his heart

To breathe air of lust in a night of passion

All he wants is her heart and tenderness

To end Love hurting on Valentines' Day

For when those dreadful moments strike tens

In the stillness of night he must fly

For when his mind races with restless thoughts

His soul takes flight in the darkest of nights

Sometimes when he feels distress

Of imaginings, dreams and fears

Sometimes when he is drowning, gasping for air

He dreads the coming of the new day

Thus, all he wants is his dear lover caresses

To send him to slumber from long days of regrets

All he wants is passion in their oneness

To end Love hurting on Valentines' Day
