Love Hurts

Deborah Coss
No formal education so to speak
Just big words and got some easy-speak
I have a heart that's been broken a million times.
And I use words to wash it clean, each time it bleeds again.
And I ache for a very long time,
If I let someone close enough to love.
So, I have a few thorns and splinters, deeply buried.
But they quit aching after a while,
And I think maybe, just maybe, the next time won't hurt.
And so, I stay a poet, who never seems to know it -
Love hurts, but you can't get through life if you always show it!
