Love in July

A Fictional Love Poem

Bridgitte Williams

Love in July, a fictional love poem.

My love.

He waited so patiently for me.

Holding a bouquet of

white roses, tenderly.

He smiled.

He wore blue.

He said his love

was true.

It was the fourth

of July.

He kneeled.

I said "Oh, my!"

He gave me the

reddest ruby ring.

Surround by diamonds.

Shining like I had never seen.

Fireworks went off.

In the sunny sky, so blue.

Yes.

I said "I do."

I lost my independence

on Independence day.

To the best man

that God made.

Happy 4 th of July!
