Love Poem: Living Forever a Decade at a Time

Charles Johnson
He sees her across the playground during recess.
Him in his overhauls, her in her calico dress.
He walks up to her and she pushes him down.
Her pretty blue eyes captivate the farm boy as he gets up off the ground.

On this day he tells his mom she is going to be his wife.
He made plans that day on how they would spend their life.
Years go by and they are hardly ever apart.
As the love grows day by day completely filling up their hearts.

The grade school sweethearts eventually marry and start out on that life.
Daily building year by year an unbreakable love as husband and wife.
As years turn into decades and child by child they build a family.
As the love they started decades ago grows into a family tree.

But as the years go by and they grow older their love grows yet stronger still.
And after a full life together in every cell of their body an immense love is all they feel.
And even though they have lived way beyond their prime.
They are so happy just to be living for forever a decade at a time.
