The Faerie Duster: A Romantic Love Poem

Cindy Lynn
This romantic poem was originally written as a love poem-or anniversary poem-for a greeting card that I created. The verse was paired with a photo of a red, fairy duster flower. (See photo near page title). Bookmark this page and put it in with your list of love poems and anniversary poems. Then when that special day arrives, print this love poem off and give it to your beloved with a bouquet of red/pink flowers (for a woman) or white/blue flowers (for a man), along with a box of candy. Remember ... nothing plucks the heartstrings quite like a love poem, flowers, and sweets for the sweet.

The Faerie Duster

The Queen of the Faeries was smitten indeed,
With a love so true and deep,
That she couldn't eat, she couldn't talk
And she couldn't even sleep.

How could she tell him, her love so true,
What courage could she muster?
She wander'd among the earthly flowers,
Plucking the Faerie Dusters.

She gather'd, for him, the blossoms bright
And their sweet, soft pollen strayed,
O'er the hill and across the vale,
To the spot where her true love stayed.

He suddenly noticed the soft, sweet scent
And he knew that he loved her, too.
He vowed they'd cherish each other forever,
As all good faeries do.

The days of faeries have long since flown,
We've analyzed love, scientific.
We're told that love isn't magic at all,
Giving flowers is not so terrific.

And we laugh to think that flowers and candy
Would speak of our love so eternal,
That Faerie Dusters would possibly tell
Of a love that could be so supernal.

But we're missing a fact that the faeries knew,
Love's link is nonetheless sure.
And flowers yet have a mystical power,
On a love that's clean and pure.

There's a touch of magic in Faerie Dusters,
But the charm's not in the flower,
It's found in the souls of those who love,
In the heart's most secret bower.

There's a touch of magic in all true love,
And the charm is in the living,
It's found in the hearts of those who love,
It grows in the act of giving.
