Love Poems, Anniversary Poems, Romantic Poems: A Rhyming Spring Time Love Poem

Different, Still They Fell in Love (Roses, Pink and Yellow)

Cindy Lynn
Written in 2000, this love poem was based on photos of two beautiful roses of differing colors, and originally contained only two stanzas. Several years later, though, it crossed my mind that the story made a perfect wedding poem or anniversary poem so I added the last few lines. Pink and yellow roses would make a beautiful bridal bouquet (or anniversary flowers) to match this love poem.

Different, Still They Fell in Love

Different, still they fell in love
Roses, pink and yellow
Murmuring words of tenderness
'Neath the bending willow.

And as they did, the clouds above
Wept tears of gladness too,
That fell upon the sleeping earth
As early morning dew.

And thus, my sweet, it is for us
We pledge for evermore,
To cherish, love, and honor hold,
For all life has in store.

With hearts entwined that beat as one,
Though diff'rent we may be,
We're joined in love and happiness
Forever, you and me.
