Love Scotch on the Rocks

Chilled to Infection

Heather Dekin
Romance in beautiful wedding ice sculpture form
Ruined by the reality of incompatibility
Melted down to their nuts and bolts
By scalding hot water that would even make
lobsters blush like little school children
Gorging on Bon Bons and Absolut Vodka
Causing coronaries for the perpetual romantic vagabond
Breaking kneecaps with a red baseball bat
A real ball buster when your heart is served
on a gigantic silver platter from Crate & Barrel
Trussed up for target practice
But avoiding the chopping block themselves
Becoming the perpetual free bird agent
Nobody's fool and nobody's sweetheart
Happy Valentine's Day indeed
Time to pour another drink
Washing down the devastation
of another lover withering on the vine
Thrown away for a model citizen and swimsuit cover girl
Ready to be buried under the covers
Even six thousand feet underground until the day passes by
Making love a distant memory under the alcohol induced haze
Falling asleep in a diabetic coma
That should last until tomorrow
When all the romantics returns to the caves they dwell in
Until the same time next year
Toasting to love and all its turbulence
A rocky road indeed.
