Love so Young

Poem on Love at a Young Age

_I03I_
I did not know you before that sunny day,
you said hello, and we began to play.

Our mothers watched from far away,
your mom said lets go, but you wanted to stay.

I was four and you were only three,
on the playground my first love was thee.

As much as I loved you, I hope you loved me,
you couldn't buy my heart, I gave it to you for free.

For days after we played from noon to dawn,
it was the time of my life, until you were gone.

We played our games, I always lost, you always won
you were always right, and I was always wrong.

Then the next week you did not show,
i played by myself, my head hanging low.

Did you move? were you sick? I didn't know,
why weren't you there, why didn't you go?

My mother asked me if I was okay,
but how do I know? what can I say?

How do I explain why I felt that way?
when you showed up that sunny day.
