Love Strikes as Occupy Wall Street Protester Asks Will You 'OccupyMyLife'

Gayle Crabtree

Cupid's arrow can strike anywhere and at anytime. On October 17, that's what happened in Manhattan's Zucotti Park. One Occupy Wall Street protestor took matters into his own hands. He bent down on one knee and clasped the hand of his beloved. In a move that seemed to surprise his girlfriend, and backed up by the human mic, he asked the question, "Will you #occupymylife?

Without hesitation the bride-to-be said "Yes". You can watch the video online.

The video ends with the three most powerful words in the English language. "I love you." There was cheering and laughter among those who were assembled. It seemed to be a very happy moment for the Occupy Wall Street protestors. Certainly, it is a unique one for Manhattan's Zucotti Park.

It was a well timed move. Happy moments are few right now. The Occupy Wall Street protestors are faced with the constant stress of possible eviction. One planned attempt at removed was met with resistance and was dropped at the last moment. The Occupy Wall Street protestors have vowed to keep the movement up for the long haul.

It is a grassroots effort that hopes to create a more level paying field so that young couples like this one and people all over may have a better life. Only time will tell if the movement will be fully successful.

Despite controversy the movement already is showing signs of meeting some goals. The Occupy protest movement has spread from Manhattan and into many cities across the United States. People are coming together in record numbers to make a statement. Perhaps their strongest message yet is to say "Hey, individuals do matter".

At least one couple has already agreed. Whether on Occupy Wall Street or not, individuals do matter.
