Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls was a hot spot for honeymooners in the 1950s. The small cottages have since been replaced with high-rise hotels, yet Niagara Falls remains a great destination for a celebration. A hotel choice for second honeymooners who like an "all in one" type place would be the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. It is ninety miles from Toronto and forty-five miles from Buffalo. Be prepared to flash your passport out the taxicab window when you cross over from New York to Canada. The rooms have wonderful views of the falls. Regular rooms are cheaper during the week, starting at about $159, but for special occasions, a couple can reserve a 650 square foot parlor suite. Whether are an early bird or a night owl, it doesn't matter...the casino is open 24 hours. There are more than a dozen restaurants, from coffee shops to a fine steak house, right on site. There is shopping, a spa, and even a theater where visitors can experience entertainers such as The Doobie Brothers or Ringo Starr. There's really no need to leave the premises. Of course, if you want an up-close look at Niagara Falls, embark on a Maid of the Mist cruise...don't forget to don a raincoat! It is said that the Falls of Niagara are aphrodisiacs due to the negative ions created by their cascading water.
Alaskan Cruise
My sister went on an Alaskan cruise for her honeymoon and loved it. On Cheap Cruises.com, the Holland America Line cruise was named as the 4th best honeymoon destination. Many who have already had a first honeymoon are looking for a unique type of experience the second time around, and this fits the bill. The Amsterdam ship is decorated like an elegant art gallery, and the rooms are spacious. This cruise has a refined social atmosphere. All of the crew members are Filipino or Indonesian, so the Asian-style and the Pacific Northwest cuisine are unique. Whether you're looking for massage therapy, entertainment, a fitness center, or a stop at Glacier Bay National Park, you'll find it starting at $840 per person when this 7-day cruise leaves Seattle bound for Alaska.
Laguna Beach
You'd be hard-pressed to find a more romantic spot than Laguna Beach, California. If you want to splurge on a honeymoon accommodation, try the Surf and Sand Resort. The rooms will run a hefty $300-$900 a night during the week, the latter being for an 1100 square foot 2-bedroom penthouse suite. They actually provide earplugs in case you don't want to listen to the ocean as you sleep....it's that close! Fine dining and spa facilities are right on the property and the lovely downtown artists' community is a couple miles down the street. This is a one-of-a-kind treat.
Maui, Hawaii
I spent my honeymoon in Maui and loved it. My sister and her husband decided to go there for their 25th anniversary and were just as enthralled. They stayed at the same place where we had stayed, The Mahana Condos at Kaanapali. This property is directly on the beach and the views are breathtaking. The balconies are large. If it's available, get a first floor condo so that you can enjoy sitting out on the lawn on the lounge chairs directly outside your room. There are many romantic spots for dining in Maui, but my favorite is the Regency's Swan Court. The swans are literally floating by as you dine in this open-air venue.
Lake Tahoe
There is something for everyone in South Lake Tahoe, especially for romantics. I would recommend staying at the Mont Bleu Resort, Casino, and Spa. You can opt for a regular room for a cheap price, or maybe you want to splurge on one of the beautiful Sierra Suites for around $650. If you are a gambler, however, you can request a player's card and may get some cash knocked off of the bill before you leave. The suite is 1200 square feet and boasts a wet bar, steam room, and an oversized Jacuzzi tub, big enough for two. This is the perfect setting for honeymooners. You can take a horse-drawn carriage around the lake, enjoy the many entertainment venues and restaurants, or just walk to the lake and bask in the peace and tranquility. It's all within walking distance.
Love can be sweet the second time around. Just make sure to pick the perfect second honeymoon spot.

Post a CommentGeez... can't spell tonight. Was suppose to read "We were there for 2 days". Forgot to mention that we did get to visit the lighthouses that were in the area, and that was really nice.
We visited Niagara Falls on the U.S. side. We were thee for 2 days, and then got bored, and moved on to PA where we went to a theme park.
I'm ready for the Alaskan cruise right now!!! Absolutely wonderful suggestions.
Now, you're talking my language, resort destinations, relaxation and casinos. And a cruise thrown into boot.
