Love Will Tear Us Apart

You've heard that love
will keep us together
but the way you see it
it can easily tear you apart
when you have so much love
that it overwhelms you
and you almost can't keep it in your heart
When you're so happy to see someone
you want to throw your arms around them
and your heart and soul say "Go"
but, it's your brain that remembers
and says, "stop, wait,
you were told No."
Your brain remembers
this person was upset
they need their space
but it's your heart that knows
at the end of the day
only God sees the tears on your face
and that feeling you've come to know
the stab of pain
is almost off the charts
And this is how you know
it should be an anthem
that love will tear us apart
