LOVELIGHT When I was a little girl I thought my grandmother was the Esther Price of the candy world. In case you don't live in Ohio, Esther Price makes the best candy in the world. I think the "home" office/factory is still in Dayton, Ohio.
Grandma and my Great Aunt Helen spent an entire day in the kitchen making "dipped" chocolate drops. They spent hours mixing the creamy center, rolling them, by hand, into little balls and then dipping them in the melted chocolate. After this process they placed them on round trays and stored them in an unheated bedroom upstairs just weeks before Christmas.
Grandma didn't tell me Aunt Helen was coming for the day, she wanted to surprise me with the candy. However, I was not allowed to "sample" it before Christmas.
From my perspective I didn't quite understand how Grandma knew I had been "in that bedroom". How did she know "one piece of candy" was missing?
Grandma turned on her "lovelight". Don't bother looking that word up, because as far as I'm know....it isn't a word. It's one I made up to describe Grandma. Her love used to shine through the light of Jesus.
I was reminded of Grandma's "lovelight" this morning when I baked chocolate chip cookies for a friend who had surgery yesterday. Chocolate chip cookies seem to be my "lovelight".
What's yours?

My husband and I make homemade chicken noodle soup for friends and family struggling with health issues. And then I discovered egg salad sandwiches go great with it for the same friend, Katt!
Nothing like spreading love with something yummy.
I don't know what my lovelights are. Does anyone have any ideas?
Cute story. I think my "lovelight" is writing humor and making people laugh. And also sharing my garden goodies. :)
My mom made the best red velvet cake. That was my lovelight.
Yummy story.....My Aunt Helen baked the best cookies also.
Makes me hungry for some sweets.
A hug and a listening ear are my lovelights.
My lovelights are the hand-written cards I send to those who need a quick pick-me-up :) cheers
(of course - you could always send some of your choc-chip lovelights our way! LOL)
