Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park is a two and a half mile stretch of white sand that is gorgeous to say the least. It was even voted by the Travel Channel as number four in their top beaches in Florida. A tram service takes you from the parking lot over two bridges for s scenic view of the inland bays. These natural barriers are left intact for wildlife refuges that kayak and canoe enthusiasts can explore for the perfect Florida outdoor adventure. Whether you spend the day at the beach or on the biking and hiking trails, you and your family are sure to have a great time at Lovers Key State Park.

The beach at Lovers Key is exceptional and diverse. Three unique beach areas provide visitors with three unique experiences. Anglers at the southern end of the beach find that it is some of the best onshore fishing in the Florida Keys. Bonefish are easy to catch on the inner flats. Deeper waters offshore produce year round game fish that's some of the best in the United States.

Do you enjoy bicycling? There are over five miles of prime riding trails that wind their way through the park. The concession has bike rental available to guest of the park for a fee. Maps with points of interest are available as well. Call (239)765-7788 for more information on rental availability.

For those who prefer their outdoor adventures wet, kayak and canoes are welcome and are available for rent at the park concession. Paddling along the inner waterways of Estero Bay is a great way to see the real tropical Florida and is available throughout the year. Winter months are especially nice as the temperature is nice, bugs are minimal and the humidity is low.

Besides bike, canoe and kayak rentals, the concession also has food and beverages available with some small snacks and ice cream. A small gift shop is here as well.

Hikers will find plenty of room to roam around at Lovers Key State Park too. Over eight miles of trail wind its way throughout prime wildlife habitat and several distinct plant communities. The Black Island Trail is a two and a half mile trail that skirts along the maritime hammock and canals of Black Island. This multi-use trail is a great place to see the diverse wildlife of the Florida Keys.
