Loves Thoughts

When the night is silent and still
with my love at my side,
my kids all tucked in bed,
I start to close my eyes.

I should've given one more hug,
one more "I love you".
I should made them smile more
with every thing I do.

Tucking them into bed
and cleaning up all their stuff,
I should've agreed to that 4th book to read.
Quality time... Enough is not enough.

I should have kissed my love
one extra time before sleep.
I should have held his hand tighter
and told him what he means to me.

But then I stop and change my thoughts.
They know me all so well.
With all the love I hold inside,
showing it all... I'm bound to fail.

We will wake again in the morning,
if God allows us a start, again.
If he does, I'll try harder,
if he doesn't... well then,

I think I've done okay.
I think they know the truth,
because everything I do in life,
is for the love I have for you.
