Love's Demise

Gabby Lynne

Do we not love like lovers in demise?
We both know our love has faded away;
Yet we hold fast the wounded heart that binds
And hope the past will find a place to save.
Shall we pretend our pain is not real still,
Or shall we wear our masks to hide loves doom,
And laugh with those whose love we can't fulfill,
And die a slow dark death within the tomb.
But thee inside my soul will always stay;
I will wait in constant sorrow until
Thine heart will find our love that went astray;
And raise the life that thou so gladly killed,
For we shall love again in this life soon,
Or die in love's death throes upon the bloom.
