Lovestruck Phoenix

Darla M. Beck
Listening to the lovestruck phoenix,
Outside singing his mournful song.
Verses made from sorrowful lyrics,
Each word full of hearbroken woe.
Serenading his beautiful distance lover,
Tears streaming freely from his eyes.
Remembering the serendipity of romance,
Until he's reunited with his true love.
Comfort he will only find in her arms,
Knowing then he will be whole again.

Praying for his lover to come home,
Hoping his prayers will be answered soon.
Outside he gazes off into the far distance,
Entranced by visions of his true love.
Needing to be wrapped in her loving arms,
In her warm embrace he longs to be.
X-tra sensitive are his feelings tonight.
