Loving a Stranger

Nathan Ross
She smiles at me and bats her eyes
Then tells me that she has to go.
I watch her leave with a grin on my face
Though on the inside I'm sad and alone.
It's tough and it's cruel, and it hurts so much,
To hope to catch a word with her each night.
The reality is I may not catch it,
But I guess that's the danger
Of loving a stranger.

She's miles away, doing her own thing,
Without a thought of me in her head.
She misses me and wants to talk,
Or at least that's what I've read.
It's tough and it's cruel, and it hurts so much,
To try to believe her each night.
The reality is I may not believe her,
But I guess that's the danger
Of loving a stranger.

We cuddle and talk, and I kiss her cheek,
To whisper she's the only one for me.
She smiles at me and bats her eyes
And tells me to stop the pretty lies.
It's tough and it's cruel, and it hurts so much,
To think I could truly know her.
The reality is we may someday forget the other,
But I guess that's the danger
Of loving a stranger.
