Low-Calorie Alcoholic Drinks

One of the easiest and fastest ways to destroy a perfectly good weight-loss plan is by going to a party or visiting a bar and drinking. It has happened to all of us. Alcoholic drinks are full of calories. Nutrition experts and dietitians ask us to avoid alcohol and spend an evening sipping water or vegetable juice, but it is impossible to do that in truth. After a long day, and when all your friends are drinking their favorite tipple and having fun, it is simply impossible to join the jollity with a glass full of carrot juice or a soda.

The good news is that there are low calorie drinks-even drinks under a 100 calories that can be imbibed without ruining your diet.

Drinks that are Under 100 Calories

Low calorie alcoholic drinks that have less then a hundred calorie per serving include; Vodka, Scotch, Rum, Brandy, and Tequila. The average single serving size of these five low calorie alcoholic drinks is one shot. The amount of calories is between 60 and 70 calories, assuming that the drink is neat.

Drinks that are Under 200 Calories

Red Wine, White Wine, Bacardi, Champagne, Whiskey Sour, Screwdriver, and Margaritas, are all low calorie alcoholic drinks with more than a hundred calories but less than two hundred calories per single serving. A single serving of each drink is five ounces.

How to Get the Most From Your Drink

When on a diet, stick to drinking low calorie alcoholic drinks. Some other things you can do to not trash your diet but still enjoy your evening are:

Mix water into your drink. this will dilute the drink, making it last longer. It is also smart to add ice to the drink. As the ice melts, it will further dilute the drink.

Take small sips of your drink. Remember that you are out with your friends having fun. You did not come out to get drunk. The longer you make the drink last, the less likely your will be to reach for another.

Do not mix your drinks. It will make it impossible for you to keep a track of the calories you have taken. Cocktails have sugar, juices and other stuff that is chock full of calories. For the sake of your diet, avoid cocktails, and stick to neat drinks.

Decide before hand how many drinks you are going to have. Abide by your decision.
