Birthday Party Favors: Mini Bubble Kits
Bubbles are always a big hit for both boys and girls - even some adults. Purchase enough small containers of bubbles for each guest. Bubbles can usually be purchased in 6 packs for $2 or less. You'll also need some blue and pink curling ribbon (usually $1 per roll). Next, purchase multi-packs of small bubble-blowing accessories (usually around $2 for a package of a dozen). Take the curling ribbon and tie it around each accessory, leaving some ribbon dangling.
Now, remove the lids from the bubbles one at a time. Place a tool on top and cross the ribbon over the opening. Twist the lid back on. It should be holding the tool in place now. Now, you can curl the ribbon. Be sure none of the boys get bubble kits with pink ribbons. While this is simple, because of the fancy design and the extra bubble-blowing tool, kids love this one.
Birthday Party Favors: Homemade Air Freshener
I enjoy making and preparing homemade air fresheners. Not only are they cost-effective and chemical free, but they also make great gifts. For these you'll need canning jars for each guest, labels on a string, tulle fabric, and the ingredients for your desired scent. Click Here for the scents and instructions on how to use them. Put all of the ingredients, including the vinegar into the jar.
Don't seal it yet. To decorate the jar, simply place the tulle around the lid insert, leaving the tulle hanging. Place the lid insert inside the lid and seal the jar. The tulle should be hanging out. Next, decorate the front of the label card with a fun name representing you and your fragrances. On the inside write the name of the scent, as well as directions on how to use them. Be sure to only use this party favor for adults and keep it out of the reach of children.
Birthday Party Favors: Scrap Craft Kits
Do you have a bunch of scrap fabric, buttons, papers, sequins, glitter, paints, etc lying around collecting dust? Put it all to good use. Purchase some gallon-sized plastic zip bags as well as some smaller ones. Sort out the crafts and create craft kits by filling the smaller zip bags with assorted pieces and placing them into the larger bags.
If you don't have these types of things lying around, visit a thrift store. If they don't have fabrics, they will have some great old clothing that you can make plenty of scraps from. Thrift stores often have bags of buttons, sequins, and other trinkets that would make great craft items. Visit the 99 cent store for papers, glues, scissors, etc. Craft kits are a huge hit with all ages. Plus, they can double as a party activity.
Birthday Party Favors: Family & Friends Recipe Book
Before the party, have everyone who's invited submit their favorite recipes to you in advance. Type them into the computer and print enough copies of each recipe for each guest onto pretty card stock or scrapbook papers.
Create a pretty cover out of the paper for each stack of recipes. Be sure to use a variety of papers for your recipes. There are so many different paper designs these days, you may even be able to match them to the recipes. Hobby Lobby has a great selection of single scrap booking papers.
Next, punch holes in the papers. Take some yarn or ribbon and insert it into each hole, tying a tight tripled knot, Then, make a bow, knotting that a few times as well. Now you've got beautiful recipe book the whole family will enjoy. If you can afford the expense, laminate the pages before creating the books. They will last longer.
