Low Cost Spots to Celebrate New Year's Eve in the DC Metro Area

This is a follow up to earlier article I wrote this month! New Year's Eve is a few days away. That means people around the world will say goodbye to 2007 and say hello to 2008. There will be plenty of parties to celebrate this event. However, some parties won't be cheap. Some NYE events in DC charge as much as $210 for tickets. Is there a way to celebrate New Years Eve without breaking the bank? Yes, you can stay home with close friends or family. However, some of you feel watching people count down to the New Year is not your thing. Good news, I found some New Years Eve events in DC that are inexpensive. These events are $50 or less. So, you don't need a take a second mortgage to have a good time.

Chuck Brown at the 930 Club:One of DC's most honored musician, The Godfather of Go-Go brings in the New Year's with style. Check out some of his Go-Go Classic and songs from his new album All About The Business. Tickets are $50, but you get your tickets without the high service fees at the 930 club website.

NYE at Asylum: Celebrate New Year's Eve at one of DC's most loved and notorious night spots. This Adams Morgan institution is holding its annual New Year's Eve Party. Guests will rock out to the best DJ's we have to offer and enjoy great drink specials throughout the night starting with full happy hour pricing on all beverages until 10pm. As always, we'll have party favors and a free champagne toast at midnight. It's a $15 cover, but it's free before 10pm.

NYE at Adams Mill Bar & Grill: This venue has 3 party floors with DJ and dancing. The second and third floor has an all you can eat buffet and champagne toast. It's free admission to the 1^st floor, but its $50 for the 2^nd and 3^rd floor.

NYE at Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse: For those who don't have big screens in your house, you need to go to Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse for their NYE Party. For $12, you get DJ, live entertainment, party favors and watch the countdown to the New Year on their crystal clear movie screen. This event does sell out. It's best to get your tickets early.

Black Cat NYE Ball: The Black Cat holds its annual New Year's Eve Ball featuring stage Peaches O'Dell and her Orchestra on the main stage. In the Backroom, Mark Zimin will be spinning music. The best part is that the cost of this event is $20. It's all the fun without the worthless frills.

Le Japonisme at Café Japone: Cafe Japone has something different for New Year's Eve. 360NIGHTLIFE in association with Liton Models, and Done Deal Productions present the art of Naked Sushi, two of the area's hottest DJ's, and some of the most affordable New Years Eve tickets around. This is best for young professionals and college students who want an upscale party that they won't forget. $20 advance tickets can be purchased at Groovetickets.com, but they will sell out.

NYE at Dr. Dremo's: Spend New Year's Eve at Dr. Dremo's for the last time. Tickets are $25 at the door (no advance purchase), and get you a champagne toast at midnight, hors d'oeuvres, and a DJ and dancing, plus the usual entertainment (pool, darts, etc.).

NYE at Café Asia:One of DC's favorite spot for Asian Cuisine, Café Asia hosting its New Year's Eve party. There's no cover charge for this party which is held in either its Downtown DC or Arlington, Va. Location. You do need to reserve a table in advanced, but you will get to enjoy the New Year in a very chic spot.

NYE at Eye Bar: Spend New Year's Eve at one of DC's most stylish nightspot. Right next door to Café Asia, This chic nightspot has many cool features like light appetizers, 2 hour open bar, and party favors. Doors will open at 8:30 p.m., and tickets are $35.

NYE at Grand Central: Here's another Adams Morgan nightspot celebrating New Year's Eve. For $20, you'll get a free buffet, lots of dancing, and a midnight champagne toast.

NYE at Growlers: One of Gaithersburg's New Attraction, Growlers is a restaurant and brewery with the finest beer and good food. On New Year's Eve, you can enjoy $2 champagnes, mimosas and kir royales. In addition, they will have a live performance by Colouring Lesson. Doors open at 10 p.m., and its $15 to get in.

NYE at H2O: H2O brings in the New Year with class. R7B artist Trey Songs will be performing live at the venue. Guests will be treated to an open bar from 8-10 p.m., a dinner buffet, a bottle of champagne, party favors and mock gambling. Tickets are $30, and you can get them at your nearest Ticketmaster location.

NYE at Ibiza Nightclub: One DC's hottest new nightspot, Ibiza Nightclub will throw one of the biggest New Year's Eve Celebrations in Washington D.C.! Come and join us for Ibiza's very first New Year's Eve Mega Event. If you're looking to party at a huge club, this is the place to be! You got 3 rooms with 3 different styles of music to choose from. General Admission Tickets are $35, and this is a semi-formal event. Doors for this event open at 8 p.m.

NYE at Ireland's Four Courts: One of Arlington's favorite neighborhood bar, Four Courts is offering a special a la carte menu for those that want to dine. In addition, they have live music from Ronan Kavanagh at 9 p.m. and a champagne toast at midnight. Party favors for all. Arrive before 8 p.m. and pay no cover charge; $10 after.

NYE at Jin Lounge: One of U street's newest hotspot, Jin Lounge is a restaurant/lounge that features a mix of Asian and Caribbean cuisine. You can spend the night dancing to our stellar DJ while watching the live NYE countdown from Times Square on one of our 8 screens. They offer exquisite passed hors d'oeuvres, party favors, and midnight champagne toast. General admission ($45) is limited, so inquire ahead of time.

NYE at Love The Club: Love Nightclub will be holding its New Year's Eve Party with a live performance from Grammy Winning recording artist Ludacris. Tickets for the Club only are $40, but its $20 extra to enter club and attend the concert. You can buy your tickets from this website.

NYE at Mango Mike's: Mango Mike's is holding its Caribbean White Party on New Year's Eve. It's an alternative to the New Year's Eve Parties held in DC. Tickets are $24.95 in advance and $29.95 at the door. Your ticket includes a Caribbean finger food buffet from 10pm to midnight, Champagne toast at midnight with party favors, and DJ Jorge "El Pinolero" will be spinning Hip-Hip, Latin and Top 40 tunes all night long.

NYE at Platinum: Spend New year's Eve at Platinum as Lil Scrappy performs live in concert. Limited advance tickets are for $30 and can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations.

NYE at Saki: An elegant night spot in Adams Morgan, Saki will be hosting Decadence 2008. This hip party will feature exotic decorations, special lighting, surprises, a special New Year's Eve countdown, and a two-hour open bar + grand buffet for VIP ticket holders. Music will be provided by XM Satellite Radio's DJ LS spinning a mix of hip hop, house, '80s, top 40, rock and international. NYE at Ultrabar: Formerly known as The Bank and Home, Ultrabar is the home to one of the most exciting and elegant New Year's Eve party in town. Tickets are $30, and you can get them at wanttickets.com. You get 2 rooms of hot music and dancing.
