Low Cost Ways to Ease Your Worry

Peace of mind and rest for the chronic worrier will come about by different methods depending on what you are worried about, and how likely or unlikely your worries are to happen.

Some chronic worriers just worry because it is their nature to do so. There may be no real threat of their worry coming to fruition, but they will worry anyway. There worry may be deeply seated psychologically and be cause by events that took place in their past, remembered or not. If you are this type of chronic worrier, I would recommend therapy to get at the root of the problem and follow this up with some positive affirmations. Once you realize why you worry needlessly over everything, it will be easier to tell yourself that you are just being paranoid and perhaps you need to take a closer look at the reality of your life. I don't suggest this will be easy, but it is a step in the right direction.

In the wake of the troubled economic times, many are worried for justifiable reasons. There are people losing their jobs, getting cuts in pay and hours and being seriously overcome with financial burdens that they can no longer keep up with. There are numerous other worries that are not imagined and are many in origin and I would recommend you tackle those worries the same way. With ACTION!

If you fear for your financial security, do something proactive to prevent the issue. Save extra money now, cut spending, take on a second job, do something that will improve your family's financial situation instead of putting you deeper in. With the holidays coming up, you can opt not to run up those credit cards and just have a cash Christmas, even if it means giving less than you normally would.

In general, I would recommend a few things across the board to help ease your worries and give you peace of mind.

Exercise - Nothing quite eases the tension like being active, even if it is just a simple walk every day. Get moving and keep busy and you might find that your worries simple become smaller. Physical exertion can bring clarity of mind.

Meditate/Pray - Whatever your religious or spiritual preference, the simple act of giving your worries over to a higher source can ease the mind greatly. When you know that there is a divine plan and everything put in front of you was put there for your growth and development, it makes it easier to take life as it comes and see every experience as a learning experience and a potential to further you on your spiritual journey.

Get Support - Having someone who you can count on to be there for you can greatly ease your worry. Your troubles are divided when shared with someone else. You can get much needed feedback and an outside perspective on what you are so worried about. Many times I have spilled my guts to a friend only to have them "talk me down" with the realities of what I was worried about. When someone you trust can point out your overreaction, then it is easier for you to see that you are worrying unnecessarily.

Change Your Scenery - For me it is sometimes a trip to the library or the park. Sometimes just changing your scenery for a bit can ease your worries; whether it be a trip to the salon or spa, a walk on the beach or a car ride to anywhere. Just taking yourself out of your normal venue can give you new perspective on your situation and worries.

These are all ways that I employ to ease my constant worries and offer myself some relief from the thoughts that run rampant in my head. Keep in mind, everyone worries sometimes. It is a natural reaction to perceived threats. It is when those worries take over and become a bigger threat to our mental and emotional health that we need to make sure we take steps to stop it from taking over our lives.
