Jeffrey Bode
As you know there are many diets. Many of which claim to deliver quick results, but have you ever questioned these diets? Do they really work? More importantly, which diets work? Having taken nutrition and weight loss classes, I'm fully aware of most of the diets out there, many of which can cause you to be worse off in the long run.

Today we are going to look at low glycemic diets. Most people don't know what low glycemic foods are and as a result couldn't understand the diet and what foods you can and can't eat. Foods are rated on the glycemic index.

Foods near 100 are high glycemic foods which are produced mostly of simple sugars. Some great examples of these are doughnuts and pancakes. The problem with simple sugars is that they produce short term energy and then the access is turned into fat and stored in the body.

These foods are not "bad" if they are taken before or after a workout, they actually are very helpful, because they quick supply the body with energy that was lost during the workout. So they are good at certain times and in moderation.

Low glycemic foods are great for the rest of the day, because they supply long term energy that could last several hours. They are necessary for the morning meal. These foods typically have more fiber which has no calories and are necessary for health reasons.

Some good low glycemic foods are meats, eggs, legumes and many vegetable. These foods also offer protein which is also necessary to your health and further aides in weight loss. Protein is the building block of the body so it is necessary for growth and should never be neglected.

Fats are also important for your health, they are necessary for some bodily processes. There are good and bad fats. Saturated and Trans fats are bad they cause your cholesterol to go up and they should be avoided, but mono and poly unsaturated fats are good and actually reduce your cholesterol.

If you don't understand what I'm getting at by now, it's that we need all types of foods to be healthy and loss weight. The best idea is to portion control and eat several small meals per day go for about 5 or 6 meals. This will give your body a constant supply of food causing you to store less fat.

To further increase your successes consider adding an exercise program. If you can incorporate this into your lifestyle you will have great success. A great example of a diet exercise program that works is burn the fat it uses a great diet and a solid exercise plan that has proven successful. The most important thing to consider is that you must be motivated to be successful. Are you ready to start a good diet today?
