Low Libido? Boost Your Sex Drive and Put the Fun Back into Your Love Making
Find Out How to Enjoy Love Making Again
Low libido causes:
There are many physical, lifestyle, and attitude issues that affect libido including PMS, Menopause and fear of pregnancy. Mothers of young children are often tired finding it difficult to even think about sex or find a time to have it. Often by the time you are done with chores and bedtime, you are completely spent. Women in menopause often find their sex drive has vanished completely or that it is painful. Not wanting or enjoying sex can be a real problem between couples and is an issue in unhappy relationships, affairs, and divorce. Sex should be something that you both enjoy and look forward to. It is a great exercise, relieves stress, and is relaxing before bed or any time. The problem for many women is that because you have no sex drive, it becomes something you avoid or do out of obligation. That is not the way it should be. Sex should be a healthy activity in your life that you both look forward to. If it is not, how can you increase your sex drive?
Get A Physical Exam:
Low libido may be a physical problem involving hormones, adrenal fatigue, fibromyalgia, endocrine imbalances, PMS, Menopause and depression. Try to find a female physician who is open to alternative therapies and herbs. Ask your doctor about her view on alternative medicine at the exam or on the phone before the visit. Here are some physical issues to consider:
Vulvodynia:
If sex is painful, you may be suffering from Vulvodynia. Vulvodynia is experienced by an estimated 14 million woman is the United States and 16 percent of all women worldwide. Vulvodynia causes painful sex due to thin vaginal tissue that tears easily. These tears are so tiny, that it is usually missed in your GYN exam. Symptoms include pain, stinging, and burning when exercising, walking, bike riding, wearing tight pants, and engaging in sexual intercourse. Vulvodynia usually does not get diagnosed with a physical exam. because it is not a sexual disease or yeast infection, so it does not show up on standard tests. There is a treatment plan here that you should explore.
Hormone imbalances:
Low estrogen, low progesterone, and low testosterone can all cause low libido. Without hormone tests, you cannot determine which hormones are out of balance. These hormones have a great impact on your sexual function, mental state, emotions, and enjoyment of sex. Hormone imbalances may cause vaginal dryness, thin vaginal tissue, and low libido. Ask your physician to run hormone tests to determine your hormone levels? Ask your doctor about natural progesterone cream. Progesterone cream applied to the vaginal areas can increase sex drive in some women.
Thyroid imbalances:
The thyroid gland is one of the most important endocrine glands. The thyroid gland affects every function of the body and its hypo function can cause problems in your immune function, energy level, hormone balance, and cause you to have a low sex drive. Many women suffer from hypothyroidism and it is often overlooked by physicians. Even if you are thin, you may have a thyroid dysfunction. If there is any family history of thyroid dysfunction, it is even more important to have it checked. Thyroid problems often run through the whole line of female family members. Hypothyroid symptoms may include fatigue, dry skin and hair, low sex drive, low body temperature, depression, mental symptoms, and obesity. The symptoms experienced by each woman is different.
The problem with thyroid tests if that they may only show a slight subnormal lab result. The doctors often will not treat hypothyroidism unless it is severe. The problem is, your borderline hypothyroidism may be causing you to have a number of symptoms which the doctor does not take seriously. It is a fight to get proper diagnosis and treatment.
Dryness:
Menopause, fatigue, or attitude may cause vaginal dryness. KY jelly without additives and perfumes should be used before hand stimulation or sexual intercourse. This is especially true with Vulvodynia. Adequate foreplay is also necessary to start the process. Kiss, snuggle and play first to get the fires going. Watch a movie or TV series such as Sex In The City or Gray's Anatomy that give some inspiring sex scenes. The idea is to get in the mood first.
Stress:
To relieve your stress and get in a more loving mood take a warm bath, listen to some romantic music, laugh, play a little and realize you must let go of the days stress before you can enjoy making love.
Obesity:
Obesity makes it more difficult to have sex and affects the image you have of your body. You may see yourself as fat or ugly and are embarrassed to be seen by your partner. You might remember that your partner loves you and who you are. Your body size is only one factor. Men want to feel you, see you, and touch you whether you are a size 4 or a size 20. In many cultures, men prefer women with rounder, heavier curves. If your weight is a serious issue in your love life, perhaps this is the time to go on a health program to get control of your weight. It will have many positive effects in every aspect of your life including more enjoyment in the bedroom.
Attitude:
Women who have no sex drive feel often that their husband is being selfish in wanting sex when you don't. Sex if not important to you, is important and necessary to your partner to be happy. You will find giving your partner more time in the bedroom, will make him more attentive and willing to help you around the house. Honey dos get done more quickly if he anticipates some time in the bedroom. It's give and take in the subject of sex. Many women find that once they get touched and stimulated, they really enjoy it. It is a known fact that couples who make love often are happier.
Ok, I admit to a bad attitude but how do I change that?
You need to look at sex as a game not a chore. Make one night a week a date night. There are many activities to choose from: a romantic drive, walk on the beach, hot tea on the porch or patio after the kids are in bed, a romantic movie, a warm bath with candles just talking, or just snuggling in bed or on the couch. Perhaps you need to have a frank talk with your partner and discuss what you could do to make sex hot like it once was. Often the fault is with women because they expect their partner to know what to do. You must as a woman learn to communicate what turns you on, turns you off, what you want him to do, and what is wrong that you are not enjoying it. Men are visual creatures and it's important to let a man see you, to learn how to make love with the lights on, and perhaps even wear something that is sexually appealing. If you give it a chance, you may even enjoy these new ways to inspire your love life.
Bedroom Atmosphere;
Music, hot massage oils, lighted candles, scented oils such as vanilla, black licorice, lavender, ylang ylang, jasmine and cinnamon all help to set the mood. Sounds like a lot of trouble but you need to think of it as a game that will benefit you both. Put the pets outside while you make love and install a lock on your door if you have roommates or children. Put on music if you have children and are nervous they will hear something. Teach your kids that you and daddy need to spend time together alone and that there will be no knocks on the door unless there is an emergency. Teach them to respect that you need time where they are not to bother you. This applies to more than making love. I remember when I was growing up; my mother read the bible in the morning. If I got up early, I was sent back to my room until she had finished. If she was sewing, I was not to bother her unless it was important. She gave me lots of time but I learned to respect her time she needed for herself. Have your partner give you a massage or back rub. Give him one back.
