There is recent information that suggests that there may be a unlikely medication that could help relieve lower back pain. It is an anti-depressant drug called Cymbalta. You may have seen commercials for this drug that was created to help depression patients. Lower back pain can be intense and doesn't always go away easily. It can be caused from the way we sit, lift things or from stress.

Chronic low back pain is the target that Cymbalta appears to treat well. It should be noted that the drug also helps with Fibromyalgia and Diabetic nerve pain as well. This is good news for people who suffer from chronic low back pain. Chronic low back pain is considered to be any lower back pain that last more than 12 weeks at a time. It is very difficult to heal lower back pain because there is no way to target what actually causes it. There are so many different things that cause lower back pain that targeting any one is nearly impossible.

Side effects of Cymbalta which was being used in a study for lower back pain usage were minimal. Cotton mouth (dry) and upset stomach. 15% of the people taking Cymbalta in the test dropped out due to the side affects as opposed to 5% of people who were given a placebo (sugar pill) instead. That seems like such a small number compared to the possibility of easing chronic lower back pain.

The idea that there could be a new breakthrough with this very versatile drug in the treatment of lower back pain is exciting for those who suffer from the chronic disorder. When it seems like nothing else is working, there may not be an answer. Chronic lower back pain can be debilitating. It can keep your from walking properly or walking at all. You might also have problems lying down or sitting up. There just seems to be no relief no matter what steps you take to ease it. Cymbalta could soon be proven to be a method by which doctors can help patients get rid of the lower back pain for good.

Keep in mind that lower back pain can be treated with other methods. Though have the back up of Cymbalta is exciting news, you can and should try these other methods to relieve the excruciating pain that you are feeling. You should also remember that chronic low back pain has been associated with positive/negative thinking. That is to say that when you think positively about the pain, it is eased, when you think negatively about it, it worsens. Consider the power that your mind actually has over your body and the way that it feels. Taking everything into consideration will give you far more options for ridding your body of pain but Cymbalta may be one of those answers.
