There have been many studies that show that employers who provide an employee recognition program have more satisfied employees. Satisfied employees are more likely to stay in their positions, in addition to bragging about the company that they work for and invest money in the company's stock if available. One sure fire employee recognition reward can be the use of promotional products.
If your company is spending the money to buy these promotional items to begin with, it seems like a likely assumption that you would also offer them to your employees. They can prove to be a valuable tool, as many business owners are well aware. Most employers do not consider, however, that employees can be just as effective in advertising efforts as the promotional items are on their own. Many of these employees will use their promotional items in the everyday activities, which helps get the word out when other people outside of the office see the logo on the items.
In addition to promotional materials, you should learn what your employees' preferences are. Find out what they like to do in their spare time. In your recognition program, you can offer rewards that are tailored to provide an extra incentive for the employees to continue working hard. Try offering spa visits for women, and a visit to the golf course for guys.
Try changing the rewards in your recognition program on a regular basis. If employees believe that they are going to get the same things over and over, you will see a decline in performance. Offer bonus checks and some promotional items for one reward, then for another you can use the spa and golf course visits. Mix it up and be creative.
Also, provide a written recognition. This is something that the employees can save, and show others how proud they are. This shows that they are good employees, but also that the company treats employees well and is also proud of their efforts. Make sure that if you are using a template for this, that you also provide a handwritten note, especially from you, to your employees. The employee will feel as though you genuinely care.
