Lower Triglycerides to Help You Lose Weight, Relax & Feel Good

Lower Triglyceride Levels in as Little as Three Weeks

Patti Stafford
Everyone knows that being over weight is not good for your heart. Triglycerides are a blood fat and one of the key sources of energy. But just like everything else, too much of a good thing is not so good. If triglyceride levels are too high in the body, it can more than double your risk of having clogged arteries and make it more difficult for you to lose weight. Studies suggest triglycerides are easy to get under control, you just need to make some simple changes in your diet and lifestyle.

If you're a woman who's trying to lower triglycerides and lose weight, ease up on the stress. Try to carve 30 minutes out of your day to do something you enjoy. This will help you relax. It can be something as simple as rocking yourself in a rocking chair, dusting the furniture, doing something creative in a scrapbook. Anything that takes stress away will be beneficial for your body and your mind.

Stand up. Studies show that people who get up and down more often, stand while doing simple tasks like talk on the phone or just get up and walk around, are more likely to burn fat and triglycerides off faster. This is especially beneficial for people with a desk job. Your boss may frown upon it at first, but it'll not only make you feel better and help you burn off some triglycerides, it can make you more productive too. Just stand up next to your desk every 30 minutes.

Red grapefruit. Eating a whole red grapefruit every day has been shown to reduce body fat faster than diets without it. Just try to skip sprinkling sugar on top.

Eat more garlic. Your friends and co-workers might not appreciate it, but your arteries sure will. Sixteen different studies have suggested that eating one clove of garlic a day can reduce triglycerides by up to 13% in two months.

One of the best tips of all, and one you already know is to start exercising. Exercising can reduce triglyceride levels 130 or more points in just 3 weeks. You can stretch, add yoga poses, go for a walk, turn on some music and dance. Do whatever it takes to get moving so you can start burning body fat and blood fat.

Do you know if you should be tested for high levels of triglycerides? Here's a few simple ways to determine the answer:

  1. Do you have a family history of high triglyceride levels?
  2. Do you take any medications for high blood pressure, diabetes, birth control pills?
  3. Do you eat a lot of sweets or products made from refined white flour or other high carb foods?
  4. Are you over weight or carry most of your weight as belly fat?

If any of these fit you, it may be time to get tested. But the tips suggested above can be done before seeing a doctor.

Get moving, get healthy and feel better fast.
