The LSU basketball team ended regular season play on Saturday, March 6, 2010 with a win over the Georgia Bulldogs at home in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers fought hard for the win, in a game that was dedicated to the seniors on the team for a 50-48 win.

A special ceremony was held prior to the game for the seniors honoring Tasmin Mitchell and Alex Farrer. Farrer has been out the entire season with a pre-season scrimmage injury where he dislocated his knee.

Farrer was cleared to start in the game Saturday which will be his last game played on home turf.

Saturday's game started out in a defensive battle, with neither team scoring during the first 16 minutes of the game. LSU's Tasmin Mitchell scored the first 2 points of the game by making two free throws in the 17th minute of the game.

The scoring bounced back and forth during the first half of the game with both teams rising to the occasion when needed to take the lead once again. The first half of the game ended in a 20-20 tie.

Georgia came back in the third quarter fired up and scored in their first two possessions, taking the lead 24-20. LSU showed they were fired up too, and answered the Bulldogs ending the third quarter with a 35-35 tie.

LSU's Dennis Harris was the first to break the lead, giving the Tigers a 37-35 lead with 9:39 left on the clock. The Tigers then had to deal with a technical called on Coach Trent Johnson after a foul was called. This gave the Bulldogs free throws and the lead back at 38-37. The lead didn't last long as LSU's Harris was fouled, made his free throws to give the Tigers the lead at 40-38.

The battle continued and the score went back and forth all the way down to 4:00 minutes on the clock when Georgia once again tied the score at 44-44.

As the clock winds down to the final 2 minutes of the game, LSU gains the lead with a score by Tasmin Mitchell giving the Tigers a two point lead, 48-46. Georgia came back to tie the game at 48-48 with only 1:18 to go.

Bo Spencer stepped up for LSU with only 19 seconds left on the clock with a 17 foot jump shot giving the Tigers a win at home, 50-48 in their final game of the regular season and breaking the ninth tie of the game.

Tasmin Mitchell ended the game with 20 points for the Tigers and six rebounds. This gives Mitchell a total of 1,979 points scored during his LSU career. Mitchell becomes the third possible basketball player at LSU to possibly make over 2,000 points going into the SEC tournament.

Bo Spencer also ended the game in double digits for the Tigers with 10 points.

The top scorer for Georgia was Trey Tompkins with 19 points. Tompkins also came up with 16 rebounds, four assists and four blocks.

LSU finishes regular season play with an 11-19 record, 2-14 in league play. Georgia finishes with a 13-16 record and 5-11 in league.
