LSU Gymnastics Ranked No. 4 in Nation: Prepares for SEC Championships

The LSU Gymnastics Team moved up two spots in the national rankings this week from No. 6 to No. 4 after posting a nice road score in the last meet of the regular season. The Tigers traveled to Centenary in Shreveport, LA, where they defeated the in-state rival by a score of 196.150 to 192.400.

Several of the Tigers are ranked nationally on individual events. Ashleigh Clare-Kearney and Susan Jackson are ranked No. 3 and No. 5, respectively for the All-Around. Kearney is also ranked No. 1 on the floor exercise, No. 3 on vault and No. 5 on bars. Jackson is ranked No. 9 on vault and No. 11 on bars. Summer Hubbard also ranked individually with a No. 20 showing on the balance beam.

The rankings released by GymInfo, have Georgia listed at No. 1, Utah at No. 2, Stanford at No. 3, LSU at No. 4, Auburn; No. 5, Florida; No. 6, UCLA; No. 7, Oklahoma; No. 8, Arkansas; No. 9 and Oregon State rounding out the top 10. Rankings are based on the Regional Qualifying Scores obtained during the regular season.

All seven teams from the SEC were ranked in the Top 20 for the second week in a row. The Tigers will now prepare to compete at the SEC Championships which will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 in Nashville, Tennessee at the Sommet Center. Competition begins at 4:00 pm. Central Standard Time. Tickets for the championship event are $15.00 and still available.
