Jordan Jefferson and Perry Riley Get the Honors

LSU's victory over Georgia Tech in the Chilk-Fil-A Bowl on December 31, 2008 in the Georgia Dome took many football fans by surprise--especially Yellow Jacket fans. LSU dominated the game from their first possession of the football and never looked back. The Tigers win the game with a final score of 38-3.

The win was a team effort, but freshman quarterback Jordan Jefferson was a key player and no surprise to be named a Chick-Fil-A MVP. Jefferson was the first freshman to start a Bowl game for the Tigers since Herb Tyler stared for the Tigers in the Independence Bowl in 1995. He had to earn his playing time sitting patiently on the bench watching Andrew Hatch and Jarrett Lee for most of the season. But boy, did that patience pay off! Jordan completed 16 out of 25 passes in the game, one for a touchdown to Richard Dickson in the second quarter, boosting his total td's for the season to four.

Jefferson is only 18 years old and from St. Rose, Louisiana. He attended high school at Destrehan High in Louisiana where he was a key player on the high school team. Jefferson ended his high school career with a 21-0 record.

Naming Jordan Jefferson at the Offensive MVP of the Chick-Fil-A Bowl was a no-brainer.

The Defensive MVP of the Chick-Fil-A Bowl went to Perry Riley, a junior. Riley is a linebacker and was responsible for a total of 11 tackles in the game. Perry also contributes to Special Teams.

Perry Riley is 6'1" and weighs 240 lbs. He is from Ellenwood, Georgia.

Congratulations to Jordan Jefferson, Perry Riley and the LSU Tigers. The Tigers are now 5-0 in Chick-Fil-A Bowls.
