The LSU Tigers are still the No. 1 team in the country today, as Associated Poll releases their poll on Sunday, October 02, 2011. Hanging on to the top spot for a second week in a row in the AP poll, the Tigers remained No. 2 in the weekly Coaches Poll, but this week it is not a tie. LSU holds the No. 2 spot all alone, less the Alabama Crimson Tide, who dropped to No. 3 this week.
Highlights of the game were the return of quarterback Jordan Jefferson and Josh Johns to the team after being suspended from the team prior to the start of the season. Both players were reinstated to the team last week. Jefferson was responsible for racking up the first touchdown in the game.
After a 35-7 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats at home in Tiger Stadium, LSU will host the No. 17th ranked Florida Gators at home next week in Tiger Stadium. The LSU-Florida game will kick off at 2:30 pm Central Standard Time and be carried by the CBS network.
Here are the current rankings for collegiate football for the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll this week:
