LSU Vs Alabama Football Game Another Tight Alabama Win

Robert Dougherty
The LSU vs Alabama football game was a BCS buster, as the LSU vs Alabama football game would eliminate one BCS contender. If the LSU vs Alabama football game had an Alabama loss, the consequences would be dire for the BCS, as one of the Big 3 would finally fall. If LSU won the Alabama football game, they would be right back in the BCS picture, or have their slim hopes die with a loss.

In the end, the LSU vs Alabama football game was as tight as expected. But crucial plays and penalties finally put the Tide ahead for a 24-15 win, to stay ahead in the BCS.

The LSU vs Alabama football game had the Tide needing a good win, after slipping to number 3 in the BCS behind Texas. The Tide hadn't won convincingly lately, but all they need to do is win every game, no matter how, to play for the national championship. But the LSU vs Alabama football game didn't make things easy for the Tide, which was little surprise.

LSU and Alabama barely scored in the first half, as the Tigers went up 7-3 at halftime. But at long last, the Tide offense woke up in the second half, getting a touchdown pass at last from Greg McElory. The Tigers came back with a safety and a touchdown for a 15-10 lead, and the LSU vs Alabama football game was set for a wild fourth quarter.

The Tide had a chance to go ahead to start the fourth, but a penalty on third-and-goal made them settle for a field goal. But soon after, Alabama delivered the play of their season, with a 73-yard touchdown catch and run from Julio Jones. In the Tide's next drive, LSU suffered flat out bad luck.

Alabama was set to punt, but the Tigers roughed the punter and gave the Tide a chance to convert on fourth-and-short. Moments later, the Tigers' Patrick Peterson nearly got an interception, but his toes were ruled to be on the line. After that, the Tide got a long field goal to clinch the 24-15 win.

The LSU vs Alabama football game wasn't pretty for the Tide, like most of their wins. But Alabama still controls its own destiny, and officially ensured a rematch with Florida for the SEC title. No matter what Florida does, if the Tide win out and beat the Gators, they go to the BCS championship game. And by knocking LSU out of the SEC West and BCS picture, the Tide have one less team chasing them in the rankings.

Alabama took care of business in their football game, in contrast with other BCS contenders like Iowa and Oregon. Florida, Alabama and Texas still make up the Big 3 in college football, and now the only teams left to chase them are Cincinnati, TCU, Boise State, and maybe Georgia Tech.

The Tide passed their biggest test left before Florida by winning the LSU football game, and now hope to continue rolling at Mississippi State next week.
