LSU's Susan Jackson Hangs on to No. 1 Ranking in NCAA Gymnastics for Second Week

LSU Gymnastics Team Moves Up Three Spots

Rankings for NCAA gymnastics have been released for the second week of collegiate competition and Susan Jackson from LSU remains as the top gymnast of the nation for a second straight week.

Susan Jackson is once again ranked number 1 in the nation after the Tiger's second competition of the season where she once again took first place in the all-around completion. Jackson scored 39.525 in the meet with the Auburn Tigers this past week, taking first place or tying in all four events.

Jackson, a senior on the team, places in the top 25 in all four events. Jackson ranks No. 6 on the uneven bars, No. 7 on the vault, No. 10 on floor exercise and No. 22 on the balance beam nationally.

Jackson's teammate Kayla Rogers also ranks in the Top 25 on vault. Rogers has an average score of 9.842 on the vault, giving her a national ranking of 23 on vault.

The LSU gymnastics team as a whole moved up three spots in the rankings from No. 16 to No. 13 after capturing an SEC win over No. 11 Auburn Tigers. The Auburn Tigers fell to No. 15 with the loss to LSU.

On the event rankings LSU as a team moved up on the floor exercise to No. 11. This marked a seven spot leap on the event for the Tigers. They are also ranked No. 11 on the vault, No. 13 on uneven bars and No. 18 on the balance beam.

The LSU Tigers gymnastics team will face No. 4 Florida Gators in the O'Connell Center on the road in Florida.

Jackson will be a gymnast to watch this season. This petite 5' gymnast previously trained at Brown's in Houston, Texas where Shannon Miller trained for the Olympics.
