Lucerne Eating Right Chicken Teryaki - Food Review

Lisa Riggs
I have always been a fan of Chicken Teryaki. The delicious sauce combined with tender chicken has always been of my favorite meals. When I spotted the Lucerne Eating Right version of this tasty meal, I was very excited to give it a try. A quick microwave meal offering the tasty flavors and satisfying ingredients seemed like it would definitely be a winner. Here are my impressions of this frozen dinner.

The front cover of the box definitely makes this frozen dinner very appealing to the consumer. Large chunks of whole meat chicken doused in teryaki sauce on a bed of brown rice is prominently featured on the packaging. The side dish of greens, carrots and water chestnuts promises a well balanced meal. The low price of only two dollars and fifty cents offers a nice respite from the high price of other food items.

One tray of this convenience meal contains only two hundred and seventy calories. There is a scant four grams of fat in this frozen dinner, with one gram from Saturated Fat. There is no Trans Fat in this product, which is a very nice feature. The Cholesterol content in this chicken dinner is twenty milligrams. Those consumers who must be vigilant in monitoring their Sodium intake should take note that there is five hundred and eighty milligrams in a one tray serving. Also contained in this frozen meal is forty four grams of Total Carbohydrate, three grams of Fiber and thirteen grams of Sugar. On the benefits side of this product is fifteen grams of Protein, twenty percent of Vitamin A, eight percent of Vitamin C, eight percent of Calcium and four percent of the daily recommended value of Iron.

Preparation of this meal is quite easy and can be finished in just minutes. After removing the tray from the outer layer of packaging, the cellophane film covering the food gets pierced three or four times to allow for venting. The meal then gets cooked on High for only four minutes. Once the tray is removed from the microwave oven, it should be allowed to sit for a few minutes before eating.

Overall I was quite impressed with Lucerne Eating Right Chicken Teryaki. The meat was quite juicy and tender and the signature sauce was very reminiscent of a homemade variety. The vegetables cooked up nice and crisp, with no sogginess. The brown rice was very soft and contributed greatly to the bulk of the meal. I definitely felt full and satisfied after eating. All portions of this dinner were very flavorful, which is not always the case with microwave meals. I would certainly give this quick and easy convenience dinner a rating of four full food stars. The high Sodium content is a drawback, which is the only factor that precluded a five star rating. I definitely plan on purchasing this product again in the future.
