When I was a teenager I was traveling with my father in the car around downtown Los Angeles. Passing by a block of parked cars and traffic I noticed an auto show at the convention center. I asked my Dad if we could stop to look at the abundance of shiny cars, but my father was a bit reluctant because of a cover charge to get into the show.

I was discouraged because he wanted to get home and relax since it was the weekend and he had other things to get done before he had to get ready for his workweek. I brainstormed quickly and came up with a great idea to get into the car show. I had made a deal with my Dad that I would promise to mow the lawn and wash his car for $20 dollars, the cost of the show to get us both in.

My dad agreed to my offer and we pulled into the show. Once we had been in the car show for a little while I had notice there was a raffle ticket give away for a brand new car fully loaded with a $5000 dollar stereo system.

I was very excited to enter to win the car because I had my drivers permit and was about to get my license very soon. This car would be an awesome first ride I thought to myself. I ask my Dad if he would fill out the entry form for me since you had to be 18 years old to enter for the giveaway.

My dad smiles and say's sure I will fill the entry form out for you. While filling out the entry form he gets a smirk on his face and begins to tell me this car show is going to three other locations this month and every location it stops at will accept entry forms to win this car. He tries to explain to me the odds of becoming a winner.

As I tried to comprehend what he was saying I just spouted out, hey anyone could win this car and it could be me. My father laughs by my reply so he drops the ticket into the huge bin already full of little red raffle tickets. We began our journey back home after a fun filled day at the auto show.

Some time went by and we fell back into our daily routines and forgot about the giveaway after a few weeks passed. One long day after coming home from High School my Dad met me at the front door. I noticed he had this crazy grin on his face. I said what's up! Why are you looking so dapper and cheerful? My Dad replies with, I received a phone call today about picking up a brand new car with a $5000 dollar stereo system in it. My jaw hit the floor, I was the winner of Brand New Spanking Car!

Nothing ventured nothing gained? What do you have to lose? If it's for free it's for me? All of these come to mind.
