Luggage

H. Kris Thomas
Wings on the edges of foot steps
Propel forward.
No side-stepping.
Only down the straight and narrow.

Hard times are a certainty.
They come, but the interference
Is put down swiftly and surely--
Strong fists and impassioned heels
Are decisive actors on this journey.

Packed goods include only the best
Of possessions--
The lackluster, the unimpressive
Are left behind.
No room for those things
That cause hesitation and insecurity.
Those things are weightier than hope and joy and
Beauty and love .

I enjoyed reading a couple of your poems 2-day...this one's tough, good advice (not that you were advising...:)

Sometimes, even old familiar comfortable suitcases need to be sorted through and cleaned out... yes?
