Luis Meat Market in Bellflower, California
A Butcher, a Baker and a Taco Bar, Who Could Ask for More?
Jose Luis started working at a grocery store in the butcher department when he was just 18 years old. He then moved to the U.S. and began worker for companies, like Stater Brothers as a butcher. He opened his first market in Los Angeles that he later sold. Then opened the first Luis Meat Market in Downey, Calif. After several years he opened Luis Meat Market in Bellflower, Calif.
Luis Meat Market in Bellflower, Calif. is a great market, not just for its fine meats with a butcher, always there to help, but for its fabulous array of produce and its mixed ethnic grocery staples.
It's a home town, family run market. I love family run businesses because they generally take so much pride in their ventures and this is so true of Jose Luis and his family. The store is always fresh and clean, the produce in perfect condition, aisles are arranged just so to fit almost anything you could want from a larger grocery store. And then there's the taco bar, complete with homemade pico de gallo, salsas and chips and guacamole. You can also buy the all of this to take home at very reasonable prices. In fact, I dare say that the guacamole would cost you more to make at home then to just buy it there. It is all fresh everyday with no preservatives, and believe me that shines through in the flavor of these great if homemade recipes. Speaking of homemade recipes, I don't want to forget to mention the homemade Dulce de Leche; it's excellent.
They have Taco Friday's for just $1.00 so if you work near by you've got a new place to pick up a fabulous lunch and they don't skimp.
This store is located at 10308 Artesia Boulevard, Bellflower, 90706 (East of Woodruff Avenue) The phone number is 562-461-1111 or 562-461-1114. Store hours are Mon - Sat 7am - 8pm and Sun 7am - 6pm
This coming October 19th will be their Bellflower location's one year anniversary and Mr. Luis says that business is going very well. I know that also because the number of customers each time I go has increased over the last year. They also have another store in Downey at 9071 Imperial Hwy, Downey, CA 90242, ( West of Lakewood Blvd) http://luismeatmarket.com/
