Luke's Intervention on General Hospital is the Best Episode This Year

One of the best written, most creative and most emotional episodes of General Hospital aired last Thursday. The entire episode took place in a warehouse with Luke tied to a chair. Family and friends encircled him as they held an intervention to try and put an end to his drinking, despite his disbelief of his alcoholism.

One by one they each took turns reading their letters to Luke, explaining how his drinking has affected their lives. As they each would begin, everything but Luke and the person speaking would become dark as everyone else in the room would disappear. So creatively captured as it was all in Luke's head as he listened intently to what the person was saying to him, even having small flashbacks from times with each person. But no moment was as touching as his moment with Lucky.

Anthony Geary and Jonathan Jackson have been outstanding through this entire storyline, and this episode topped it all as Lucky read his letter to his father, calling him a "hero" and trying his best to save his father from himself. The emotion both Jackson and Geary mustered for this scene was so believable as Jackson stated his amazingly written script. Soon, a flashback played on the wall behind him, and both of them watched as Luke and a young Lucky had a cute father and son moment. When it ended, Lucky continued his letter as a camera angle shot to an emotional Luke with a smiling, younger Lucky looking down at him from the paused video that was plastered on the wall, making the moment even more moving.

In the end, Luke refused treatment and walked out of the warehouse, leaving his family and friends less than triumphant. While it's still unknown how this is all going to pan out for Luke and his family, it's certain that the writers and these actors were at their best in this episode, and they all deserve a Bravo.
