Lullaby for Bones

Lullaby for Bones

Hush
little baby, don't say a word,
Mama's gone and your angels
have all crumbled to dust.

Nowhere to turn now
but into the embrace of Bones,
of Darkness.

And if you should escape
that embrace?
You only need wait
for the Veil of Sleep
to find your Dæmon.

And if you hide from yourself,
if that dæmon Sleep turns to Fear,
Fear to Insomnia -
You gonna end up seeing yourself
in the looking glass of life;
every window, pool of water,
pair of eyes -
there He will be.

And if those looking glasses
should get broke,
have no fear child
'cause the sunlights gonna fade
allowing you to see, soon enough.

And if that light don't fade
the Son of the Morning don't care -
just as easy to become day
as He was before.

And if the day becomes your dream,
the dream your life,
the life lived in the night,
Solitude's gonna win baby when you fade
to muttered shadow, bare recollection
with no consequence.

And if they don't forget you?
You gonna make your claim -
the desire to be let go,
be alone, your fear -
the dream calling you
softly into the night.

And if that come to pass?
Hush little baby,
don't say a word.
Mama may be gone,
your angels may have crumbled to dust,
but You'll always be the sweetest baby.

So hush little baby, don't you cry.
When all the others have gone
the Shining Star, the Son of Dawn
Loves you, and so does your Shadow -
Bones.
