Lunar Whispers in My Ear

Is the moon trying to tell me a secret
through dreams that wake me underneath her light?
Will some kind of damned revelation
give me understanding on this hot night?

What is it that keeps me from falling
into the trap I've stumbled in before?
A part of me wants to submit to life
while another part wants a little more...

Oh, games were played
and played quite well!
I was merely the bastard
watching from the crowd...
Perhaps the game needs changed
and roles, rearranged -
a new player, standing proud

Oh, I do, indeed, applaud the characters
and the roles that they, shamelessly, carried on...
But those days have grown old
