Lupus LA - Painted Turtle for Teens

This last summer of 2010, Lupus LA provided 20 kids with lupus the opportunity to participate in camp activities at The Painted Turtle's facility in Lake Hughes in California.

During my time at camp, I met a lot of new people that shared most of the same things I go through everyday. We bonded and had lots of fun with of the activities that they had for us as, horseback riding, fishing, and arts and crafts. My favorite time I had at camp were all the activities they had for us after dinner like a carnival, ninja chase, and dancing. I can honestly say camp was nothing like I had imagined, it was better in so many ways. Camp taught me to be more open with my new disease and embrace life to the fullest and that is exactly what I plan on doing from here on. I will definitely share my experiences at the painted turtle with all of my friends and family. The new friends I have made at camp and I all plan on going again next year for more fun and life changing experiences.

Lupus LA provided 20 children with lupus ages ranging from 7 to 16 years old a unique summer camp stay at the "Painted Turtle" camp at Lake Hughes in California.

Campers had chance to ride horses, take arts and crafts classes, swim, learn archery. They had the chance to experience traditional camp activities that can make summer so special and memorable.

Canyon Ranch

Thanks to the collaboration with the Dream Street Foundation, young adults ages ranging from 18 to 25 can apply to take part in a weeklong intensive retreat at Canyon Ranch in Arizona. Contact Lupus LA with your information for a spot in summer 2011.

The Painted Turtle Camp in Lake Hughes, California, for kids and teens, ages 7 to 16, with serious illnesses. Activities, schedule by illness, virtual tour, and application .

On April 15 to April 17th 2011, Lupus LA will be participating in the Painted Turtle's Rheumatic Disease Family Camp. This program is available to families of children with Lupus ages 7 - 16 .
